Crawford County Court Record Requests
Pick the right office before you ask for a copy. Ryan Johnson's Clerk of Superior Court holds the Superior and Juvenile files. The Clerk's court information page lays out its civil, criminal, scanning, and fee material. PeachCourt serves as the state-listed route for Superior e-filing and documents. Probate Court keeps estates, wills, guardianships, county traffic, and its other records. Magistrate clerks handle the limited civil and criminal matters. Roberta Municipal Clerk Kim Anglin holds the city's traffic and ordinance dispositions.
Superior access itself is split several ways. There is a login-gated Icon page. PeachCourt documents are account-based. There are static calendar PDFs, the courthouse counter, phone requests, and mailed certified-copy orders. The county's general contact form is an administrative fallback only, not a published court-record workflow. The Georgia Open Records Act guide offers useful state context. But the Attorney General notes that ordinary ORA procedures do not govern Superior, State, Probate, and Magistrate Court files.
- Identify the court and whether the request is for a docket, calendar, filed document, or certified copy.
- Search the relevant electronic route, including PeachCourt for Superior documents or Probate Records for probate categories.
- Call or visit the clerk at 100 GA Highway 42 South, Knoxville, when the online route needs an account or a result is incomplete.
- Use the certified-copy form for a sealed and endorsed copy; mail the form and permitted payment when pickup is not possible.
- Ask the court about Juvenile, adoption, sealed, and protected-identifier records before expecting public delivery.
The Georgia E-Access directory names the Superior electronic route, though the local custodian still controls the files.
Crawford County Record Layers
A "court record" can mean several different things. The docket or register lists case events and filings. A calendar shows one selected date and setting. The filed document holds the actual text, whether that is a complaint, petition, motion, order, judgment, or proof of service. Finally, a certified copy is a Clerk-endorsed and sealed copy marked true or correct to the original in the file.
| Record layer | Question answered | Crawford access |
|---|---|---|
| Docket/register | What filings, events, or settings were recorded? | Icon, PeachCourt, or the relevant clerk |
| Calendar | What cases are listed for a date or session? | Clerk's civil and criminal PDFs |
| Filed document | What does the pleading, order, or judgment say? | PeachCourt, counter, or document request |
| Certified copy | What copy has the Clerk's endorsement and seal? | Certified-copy form, mail, or pickup |
A calendar row reading "Motion for Default Judgment" proves only that a request was filed, not that judgment was entered. A payment receipt is not a certified disposition. So pick the layer that answers your actual question.
Kinds of Court Records
Superior civil and criminal files form the main Crawford docket record set. Each clerk still holds distinct materials. According to the Clerk, civil proceedings, Superior criminal cases, warrants, jury lists, and pleadings are all scanned. Probate's online service splits its records into several groups. They include estates, recorded marriages, traffic citations, wills, guardianships, deaths, miscellaneous filings, hearings, and fee calculations. Those categories should not be collapsed into one general court file.
| Record type | Examples | Keeper |
|---|---|---|
| Superior civil | Complaint, service, answer, motion, order, judgment, appeal material | Crawford Superior Clerk |
| Superior criminal | Citation, accusation, indictment, pleadings, bond, Grand Jury material | Crawford Superior Clerk |
| Juvenile | Deprivation, delinquency, unruly, CHINS, and juvenile traffic records | Juvenile Court and Clerk division |
| Probate | Estate, will, guardianship, marriage, death, and county traffic records | Probate Court Clerk Wendy Odom |
| Municipal | Roberta traffic, ordinance matters, and dispositions | Municipal Clerk Kim Anglin |
Historic land-index books add another layer. Crawford QuickLink covers 1830-1989 land indexes and helps with property history, but it is not a modern Superior case register.
Crawford County Certified-Copy Fields
The certified-copy form is a simple one. It asks for Name, Address, Phone & E-mail, and Document Being Requested. That is all. There is no field for government ID, date of birth, or case number. Payment-card details and sworn statements are absent too. A requestor fills in a few lines.
A certified copy is endorsed and sealed. It is a true and correct copy of a document in the file, per the instructions. Walk-in requests are welcome during normal business hours. If pickup will not work, mail the form with the permitted payment. The office then contacts the requestor with an approximate page count and the total due. No turnaround time or direct email-submission address is published.
The Crawford certified-copy form shows the fields and the mailing instructions themselves. For a different route, the Probate filing-cost calculator spells out its fees. The fees cover Probate filings, not Clerk certified copies.
The Probate fee calculator belongs to a separate Probate service. That is why any document request must name the court and the record family.
Court Records: What They Contain
A filed record carries far more detail than the calendar row pointing to it. A civil file may hold many pieces. They include the complaint, proof of service, answer, motion, order, judgment, and appeal event. A criminal file may hold several items. It may include an accusation or indictment, pleadings, bond material, motions, and later disposition documents. Exactly what you can view depends on the court and its access rule.
| Caption | Case style, court, and named parties or State of Georgia caption. |
|---|---|
| Filing | Complaint, petition, accusation, indictment, motion, or other pleading. |
| Service and answer | Civil process and response records when those fields or documents apply. |
| Order or judgment | The court's written ruling or final document, not just a motion request. |
| Setting | A date and event label that may appear in a calendar or register. |
| Certification | Clerk endorsement and seal added to a requested true or correct copy. |
If a request just says "the docket," ask whether the goal is the event history, a calendar sheet, or a particular filed paper. That single question prevents paying for the wrong layer or mistaking a preview for an official certified copy.
Crawford County Scanned Records
The Clerk reports good news. All civil proceedings, Superior criminal cases, pleadings, warrants, and jury lists are scanned. Scanning does not put every image behind an open web result. Icon sits behind a login, and PeachCourt uses account-based access for Superior documents. You may need to take an extra step. Sign in, purchase a document, visit the counter, or submit a certified-copy request.
A 2016 Clerk notice describes the PeachCourt access. It covers open and closed civil cases, a first-page preview, and purchased PDF download. The office posts no current per-document price. The current Georgia e-file table lists PeachCourt as mandatory for Crawford Superior. Probate, meanwhile, uses TrueFiling for its own filing workflow.
A scan never overrides a seal or restricted page. Juvenile, adoption, and protective-order confidential information, along with other sealed material, may be withheld unless a court order or statute allows release.
Crawford County Copy Fees
Crawford County posts a per-page rate for certified copies of court records. Not every record service carries a published price, though. Keep that certified rate apart from Superior Court filing fees, PeachCourt vendor charges, Probate calculator results, and any plain-copy or docket-sheet amount the clerk sets separately.
| Service | Published fee or payment rule |
|---|---|
| Certified copy, first page | $2.50 |
| Certified copy, each additional page | $0.50 |
| Mail payment | Check, money order, or cashier's check; no cash |
| Pickup payment | Check, money order, cashier's check, cash, or card; $10 card minimum and 4% service charge |
| Not published | Plain-copy, docket-sheet, search, and current e-access prices |
The Clerk's instructions bar faxing or emailing certified copies. Adoptions and juvenile records stay off limits when law or court order seals them. Name the exact document and its rough page count before you treat any fee quote as final.
Access Rules for Court Records
Georgia Rule 21 opens the door to public inspection of Superior Court records. Still, a statute or a court order can set limits. Rule 21.6 goes further. It carves out protected identifiers along with restricted pages. The Attorney General adds a wrinkle that surprises many people. A court record can be public. Yet the Superior, State, Probate, and Magistrate Courts stay outside the ordinary Open Records Act request procedures used on county agencies.
Use the court-specific route: Uniform Superior Court Rule 21 supplies the Superior access baseline; O.C.G.A. ยง15-11-704 describes key Juvenile Court file limits; and the Attorney General court-record FAQ explains the ORA boundary.
The Georgia Attorney General's open-records guide lays out how written and oral requests for public records work. Its court-record guidance, though, keeps Crawford court files on the clerk's own access path rather than the standard county-agency route.
That state guidance sets the background. It does not convert a Superior docket request into an ordinary county-agency request.
For an adult public file, ask the Clerk of Court. Ask what can be viewed or copied. For Juvenile matters, adoption files, sealed pages, or protected-identifier material, ask what authorization is needed. Ask whether a redacted record is available instead. If a scanned page is missing from a docket, treat it as an access question. Hold it there until the clerk confirms otherwise.

Crawford County Historic Land Index
Historic QuickLink is a separate tool. Its index covers Crawford land books dated 1830-1989. You can search by type, year, party, last name, first name, or by book, volume, and page. That makes it a fit for genealogy and property history, not for the Superior docket, the criminal register, or current hearing dates.
Probate and Roberta keep their own records. So the label "court record" does not blur the line between state and federal holders of the files. Crawford QuickLink earns its keep when the question is historic land indexing rather than a modern case file. The case-search page describes its searchable route in full.
Crawford County Federal Record Boundary
Crawford County state cases have nothing to do with the federal clerk's records page for the Macon Division of the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Georgia. That divide matters. Federal filings live in PACER and CM/ECF, not in the state Superior, Magistrate, Probate, or local criminal dockets a county clerk would search. The U.S. Courts PACER overview explains how federal case access works, from public terminals to paper files.
PACER charges $0.10 per page, caps a single document at $3, and waives the whole bill in any quarter where charges total $30 or less. You need an account first. Remember that every one of these fees and rules is federal. Nothing on that price list comes from the Crawford County Clerk. For courthouse context in the Macon Division, the Middle District federal court location page lists what a visitor will find there.
A federal courthouse means a different record system, not a Crawford docket. A Superior Court complaint belongs with the state clerk in Crawford County.
The official PACER pricing page lays out how federal charges work. Bankruptcy goes through the Macon bankruptcy office. Appeals can move up to the Eleventh Circuit. Permitted RECAP material may appear on CourtListener. None of those routes replaces a Crawford state-court case lookup.
The pricing details mark a boundary. They are not a federal search result for a Crawford County case.
